Jerusalem
The latest tumult is over President Trump's decision to move the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. I think I have a handle on it now-- I was confused for a while about the implications of this.
There will be problems. Symbolism matters, and this is a huge one that could effectively end what is left of the peace process in the Middle East. Though it won't affect Americans in our day to day lives, I suspect it will mean another hit to our international reputation in some places.
Does this matter?

Yes, it matters bigly. This is yet another ego-fulfilling foolish move that will have all kinds of negative consequences. It will do nothing positive for anyone.
And if Trump thinks it will get him the Jewish vote, it just proves, again, what a fool he is.

With this essentially ending the Peace process Jared and Ivanka can move there collective butts back to Manhattan while he awaits his indictment.
Well, it also means building an embassy in Jerusalem or somehow creating one from an existing structure, I guess, and relocating embassy staff . . . . money spent which doesn't need to be.
