Best TV shows, in rank order

1) The Sopranos
2) Arrested Development
C)  Seinfeld
4)  Twin Peaks
5)  Freaks and Geeks

Yeah, this is (by necessity) limited to the shows I have actually seen.

You don't disagree, do you?

    Hill Street Blues
    Seinfeld
    The Office

I would have to go with West Wing: as I dream it should be.

    From a more parochial perspective:
    1. Cheers
    2. Cheers
    3. Cheers
    4. Cheers
    5. Cheers

  6. NOVA is a science show on PBS, and has been on the air for many years. I watched it as a kid, and it always brought an amazing world into our living room every time we watched it. There was a different topic every week. Arctic Penguins? African Lions? Black Holes? The show had it all, and still does!

  7. Craig, I am a little surprised "Hockey Night in Canada" did not make your list.

And Medievalist… did you sell your television in 1979?

Right … but there can be too much Don Cherry. The far better choice is any Bruins or Red Sox game on NESN (New England Sports Network) … which Norm and the boys would have been religiously watching from their bar stools in Cheers … and I do mean religiously! Further evidence that the known world is contained within the confines of 128 … the extreme limits being within 495. Beyond that there is just Detroit and the Red Wings.

  9. Hogan's Heroes
    Gilligan's Island
    McHale's Navy
    The Bob Newhart Show
    Get Smart
    Batman

  10. Monty Python's Flying Circus
The first three seasons of SNL

  12. In addition to the Wire which you really should see, and the Sopranos (which you list), and limiting it to Serial Dramas Sort Of About The Work You Do, please also add:

    Fargo
    Breaking Bad
Better Call Saul (after breaking bad)
