Haiku Friday: Shopping

Have a favorite store? Past or present? Of course you do. Let's haiku that today.

Here is mine:

At Gene's Party Store
Penny candy, pop, liquor
Kids of all ages.

Now, you go! The winner gets a bio here on Monday....

Comments:
Dale's Mega Foods! Dad's
office, doughnuts, flick rentals,
liquor store inside!

There was a bagel
machine, and a cake photo
thing. Eat your own face!

Open every
day but Christmas and Easter.
Holiday quiet.

Target Superstore
Low prices plus relief that
It isn't Wal-Mart

FOR THE LOVE OF SHOES

She was a high class
Dame, who sold shoes for a living.
He liked leather's smell.

He sat on a plush
Chair,listened to tux-man's piano.
"May I help you,? she said,

Simmering,loafer
Held aloft. Moroccan-kid
Intoxicated,

"I'll take it," he said.
"Wouldn't you like to try it?"
"Nordstrom's will return...

And so will I.Lunch?"
"Customer's always right."
He smelled like...new shoes.

Schwingler's grocery,
Milk, eggs, Bub's Daddies, Sweet Tarts,
Just two blocks from home.

was it Jean's or Gene's?
A long bike ride from the house
Closer than Bob's Drugs

Love Tuesday Morning
A store full of discount stuff
I can browse for hours

Curtains, dishes, toys
garden tools, cocktail napkins
you just never know..

like a dress-up trunk
use your imagination
the choices, endless....

The Thruway Market!
Loved it there, and now it's closed
Nothing lasts out there.

Wide-eyed I enter
Towers of stories surround
Sigh. Elysium.

Becky

There was a toy store.
I only know where it was,
what it held. No name.

Expensive sunscreen
At the beach Piggly Wiggly
Moonpies, Cheerwine, joy!

Crystal Beach "Big Store"
Ike only made it Bigger.
Don't forget Doritos!

Our store: Brooke Rental
Dad built it up from nothing
Thirty Six years plus

The Container Store
Neatness is not my strong suit
But one can still dream

Dewey’s Bakery —
Moravian Sugar Cake
and other goodies!

. . . . .

Looked out the window
on the way to Mom’s office
to see the Bentleys.

. . . . .

The Deacon Shop serves
not the church but athletics —
our true religion.

. . . . .

Winston-Salem has
The Train Loft, models that say,
“Southern Serves the South.”

. . . . .

The toy store had tanks
and half-tracks behind locked glass —
all beyond my reach.

Allen's Alley for
Fiesta Wear, videos,
sweets. Film Noir to Flectch.

diadelkendall - i was thrilled to see your haiku on the Big Store at Crystal Beach! My family had a house at Emerald No. 1 from 1974 to 2004. I never expected to see poetry about Crystal Beach. I loved Swede's Store when Swede still owned it, and Bay Vue Grocery was OK, but we all were so excited when the Big Store opened. What's it's real name, Gulf Coast Market or something like that? None of us called it anything but the Big Store. Thanks for rekindling memories. - Jill Scoggins, Louisville, KY

Merit woods on mack.
Every Sunday go there and
Buy new york times. Mom.
