Poetry Cavalcade 15: Library

The place best protected-
That's what fell last.
The last sacred space
Not hidden from view.

Thick dark stone walls
A maze of old warrens
Protectors in costume
Attentive and fleet.

Still, I surrendered
That last plot of land
Full of books, light, and me
Yet, still I stayed there.

  1. Masterful. Almost a romantic poem...about a library from an academe. Love the paradoxes. The visions of librarians. That it is still a heavenly haven of the mind and heart for you.

  2. Wanted to add a question: do you need the "yet" of the last line?

  3. Hmmmm.... I could go either way with "yet." I added it at the last minute, in fact...
