Haiku Friday: Family

August is a time to do things with your family, whoever that may be-- even if it is just your oldest friends on a road trip. Let's haiku about that today: A family trip, a reunion, a cookout, the memory of a summer day long ago, or anything else you wish.

Here is mine:

Heavy metal poles
Thick and heavy canvas cloth;
We unfold the tent.

Now, it is your turn. Just make it about 5 syllables for the first line, 7 for the second, and 5 for the third.

As usual, there will be a prize-- your bio on the Razor, but it will be delayed a week, and will appear on Monday, Aug. 8.

    New house, children in
    Mind. Not knowing when rooms would
    Be filled. Now, we laugh.

    Mark,thank you for this weekly exercise in art and life. Haiku is a metaphor for life. One has to decide what is vital,what is a priority...what one cannot do without and what must be cast aside. I purely love doing this and look forward to Fridays. I love to write poetry,but heretofore have always lacked discipline.

    Summer worries me.
    As Detroit burned one summer,
    I lost my mother.

    Cancer invaded.
    Riots raged. Since then I fear
    Hot and humid days.
