Time on Location in Detroit
Razor Buddy Campbell Warner tipped me off to the fact that Time Magazine is spending a year on location in Detroit-- well, at least several reporters are. The results are impressive.
They are going all the way, too:
This summer the editors at Time Inc. did something a little out of the ordinary for us or, frankly, for anybody: we bought a house in Detroit. As houses go, it's nice enough — three stories, five bedrooms, 3½ baths with a yard and a basement. We paid $99,000, about $80,000 above the average price of a house in the city limits.
I intend to keep a close eye on this experiment.

Some of my favorite memories of back home involve exploring abandoned factories near 75 and 94 that were dangerous because of the run down condition and because of the hostile homeless that occasionally were there. We used to drink and some would smoke week and then we'd climb through the places in the middle of the night. Those were great times. There is no doubt that we weren't thinking things through but it was truly a great time and I doubt any of my classmates here can say they've had similar experiences. Despite the obvious danger, we never felt threatened. The only time we were concerned in the D was when we'd walk around to get to the spots and see an occasional car driving without headlights on...

You should be careful ratting out friends from smoking week on such a public forum. If there's one think society can't tolerate, it's smoking week. Though, I'm curious, what kind of week was it?

So, are the Tigers gonna implode completely and let the Twins steal the AL Central crown out from under them?
IPLawGuy - It depends which way the wind is blowing. I think it might have been the acquistion of Aubrey Huff that has put the team in reverse. He brought with him the curse of Tampa Bay.
Detroit shmoit, Windsor is much nicer and has casinos. And your money is worth an extra 20 cents on the dollar!
I dislike the Red Wings above all else, since no one has cared about the Tigers since Big Cecil Fielder literally ate the competition.

There are multiple casino's in Detroit - the MGM Grand and one in Greektown. There is a third one, but I don't know where it is located.
You must like Canadian Hockey teams - aye? And believe it or not the Tigers have fans - committed (they should be) and knowledgeable baseball fans!

Naw, the Twins wimped out in the second game--no pitching or hitting as usual. It'll be fun to watch what the Yankees do to the Tigers, though.
