Argbf Update!

According to a new blog, Argbf has been nominated to fill the Senate seat vacated by Barack Obama. (Hopefully, Argbf will not follow through on her earlier plan to catch and eat slow and/or fat residents of Woodley Park and then move into their apartment). Here is the full report:

Governor Rod Blagojevich’s controversial decision to appoint former presidential hopeful and panda bear, Argbf, to fill President-elect Obama’s vacant Senate seat is far from being approved, yet the appointee has plans to attend the opening day of the 111th Congress, CBS News’ Andy Thompson Taylor reports.
Argbf and his handlers will travel to Washington, D.C. Monday night, and then onto the Hill for moving-in day. The senator-elect will not be officially seated before the Senate approves the nomination. Democratic senators, led by Majority Leader Harry Reid, said in a letter Tuesday “anyone appointed by Gov. Blagojevich cannot be an effective representative of the people of Illinois and, as we have said, will not be seated by the Democratic Caucus.” Reid went on to note, ” Also, the nominee is a bear, a real damned bear, and not a person. Has anyone picked up on this!?”

Comments:
Blagojevich sounds like a panda name, too.

So what he's a bear? The Senate is full of snakes, weasels and vultures.

I think it is time that we look past what the candidate is and focus on who the candidate is. I support any candidate that is for bamboo conservation.

LDT, if you're FOR bamboo conservation, then you obviously are a socialist... and have never owned a home with a yard being encroached by bamboo. The stuff appears to be impossible to stop. When they talk about something growing likes weeds, bamboo was one of the things they had in mind.

Bamboo is the future. A cheap source of wood-related products. The man, woman or panda who can harnass bamboo, kudzu, magnetism, and hot air from Rush Limbaugh gets my vote.
RFDIII

I'll vote for the panda who can cultivate kudzu on Rush Limbaugh.

Iplawguy, I've seen Kung Fu Panda... I'd be careful who you call a socialist!
Side note: I've never owned any property.

Well, I'd say a panda isn't the one to look to for Bamboo conservation. I spoke to Argbf directly yesterday (hey, I live next to the Zoo), and he said he eats 30 pounds of bamboo a day! IPLG and RFD, you need a panda in your yard for some serious Bamboo management.

Okay, now I have to get all literal on you: I cannot, for the life of me, figure out what the Democrats have to gain by blocking the guy Blagojevich nominated from taking his Senate seat.

Maybe I am really missing something obvious--and I hope you'll tell me if I am--but it seems to me that it's going to take forever to figure out how to impeach Blago, and until then it seems to me his nominating the guy was legal. Sure, he was giving the Dems the finger (as one news commentator said) by going ahead and nominating him, but he was still governor and he's allowed to nominate a successor.

And the nominee (can't remember his name) seems like a decent guy; the Dems could do a whole lot worse than him. It just seems the Dems would be better off having another Democrat in the senate, even if it's under embarrassing circumstances, than blocking the nomination of a decent guy from their own party.

Am I missing something here?

It just seems like the Dems have much much bigger problems staring the country in the face than the Blago's nomination . . . unless the nomination was truly illegal.

I hear Argbf will represent Minnesota until they certify a real winner in their Senate race. Argbf supports subsidies for the bamboo growers of Minnesota. The are located somehwere near Lake Wobegon.

IPlaw - perhaps you need to rent a panda to help with your bamboo problem?

IPLG, I am a socialist and a known opponent of bamboo. There is actually photographic evidence of me attacking bamboo with a suspiciously foreign-looking sword.

His uhmmm handlers should retouch this photo. Are they aware that there is another smaller panda growing out of his chest? Kind of like in Alien.

We almost put bamboo in our house. but it was backordered. So we didn't. We needed to move in.

See, I knew Lane wasn't all bad. Bamboo IS the tool of the oppressor.

As to the Burris appointment, until you see a photo of his tombstone ("terrifying death chamber") don't judge:

And check this out for some background on the guy:

Okay, thanks, IPLG. I'm beginning to understand now, about Burris . . .
